BIO
Red Mercury make drum & bass shaped by cinema and hardware. The pairing of producer Steve Gregory—a devotee of analog synths and hands-on sound design—and vocalist/writer Isobel Crawford pushes melody and atmosphere without losing club impact. Their music balance widescreen pads and tactile bass with vocal lines that stick, a combination they’ve refined across a steady run of singles and DJ sets in the UK and Asia.
What defines the duo is contrast: luminous top-end against heavy subs; sleek, sci-fi textures against human, emotive performances. With a studio workflow anchored in hardware and performance takes, Red Mercury aim for tracks that translate from headphones to festival rigs while keeping a cinematic through-line. The result is a distinct, future-facing voice in DnB—engineered for the dancefloor.
PROJECT DETAILS
“I Still Remain” is Red Mercury’s most ambitious release to date: a melodic, high-impact drum & bass single paired with a companion short film built with virtual production. The track threads Isobel Crawford’s emotive vocal through widescreen pads and heavyweight low-end, then lifts into a euphoric second act—engineered to hit on club systems without losing headphone detail. Mastering by Matthew Gray in Brisbane, Australia, preserves the top-end air while tightening the sub, so the record translates from radio to festival rigs.
The film takes the song’s core idea—pushing forward after a break—and renders it inside shifting, sci-fi-leaning worlds built in Unreal Engine 5, the same real-time tech powering Star Wars’ virtual-production stages (e.g. The Mandalorian). We shot practical performance plates, camera-tracked them on set, and composited them with live 3D environments so scale and space move with the music. We built the video and the mix together. Lights, colour changes and camera moves were timed to the stems so every bass hit, vocal lift and drum drop lands with a matching visual cue.
Technically, the pipeline fused live action with virtual scenes to avoid green-screen flatness and to keep skin tones and reflections natural. Shot design focused on long moves and parallax, so environments feel physical even when they’re digital. The result is a unified audio-visual piece where the song’s hook and the film’s imagery reinforce each other: resilient, forward-looking, built for big rooms.
For fans of Sub Focus, Chase & Status, Hybrid Minds, Metrik, Grafix and Kanine, “I Still Remain” hits that line between emotive songwriting and system-ready energy—Red Mercury’s hallmark across ten releases, now expanded into a full visual world.

REVIEWS
“Red Mercury! This is absolute magic! Your video is pure class, it reminds me of watching tv back in the early 90s after everyone had gone to bed I would put the TV on and watch absolutely far-out there psychedelic music videos, with Electronic music playing away! ”
